When does a new session start?
My Monday night classes at Strictly Ballroom run in 2-month sessions: Sept/Oct, Nov/Dec, Jan/Feb, March/April, May/June. (No classes in July, short session in August.) We alternate between learning a choreography in two months or working on technique, combinations, or special topics for two months. For a choreography session, it is best to start at the beginning of the two months, but please email me if you would like to start at the beginning of the second month. You may join a technique/combos session at any time (contact me if you want to drop in).
*New to Monday nights? Please let me know if you plan to join us. (If a class has less than three sign up for the month, we will delay the session to the following month.)

Tuesday night classes at Bodyworks are suitable for drop-ins every week. We work on a different routine every month or so, but I structure the class so you can join us at any time.

What should I wear to bellydance class?
Most students wear fitted, comfortable work-type clothing such as yoga pants and a close-fitting tank or t-shirt.  You can dance barefoot or wear dance shoes such as ballet slippers. Find out more about class-wear here.

Can I observe a class to see what it's like?
I, too, like samples and "free trial" situations, but I don't allow observers for my classes. The best way for you to try out the class is to get up and dance with us! At Dance Fxbg, the drop-in fee is $17, but I will credit it toward a full session payment if you decide you want to dance with us every week. Each student's comfort level is very important to me, and many, especially new, don't like feeling "watched" so plan to participate instead of watching us from the side. Join us, it's fun!!!!

How long does it take to become good at belly dancing?
You can't generalize a time frame for learning an art form. Do you want to add some belly dance moves when out dancing with friends?  Do you want to become a professional belly dancer? (This takes many, many years of intense, consistent study.) Or something in between? I can help you set goals for mastering specific skills to put you on the path for becoming "good" (or even "great"!), but can't guarantee how quickly you will progress.

Will this class be difficult for me?
I don't know how comfortable or not you are with trying new things. Previous movement experience (classes in other dance styles, dance fitness, etc) might help you feel more comfortable, but are not required. I encourage all new-to-bellydance students to approach it like children do with anything new - jump in and give it a try!
